Community service project to benefit Carolina Children’s Center

CHARLOTTE, NC (Sept. 24, 2008) – The NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network has teamed up with the Kyle Busch Foundation and Carolina Children’s Center for the ServiceNation Day of Action on Sept. 27th.

Volunteers from The NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network, Kyle Busch Foundation and local community will be out at Carolina Children’s Center from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday doing a variety of projects including lawn care, laying carpet, caulking window seals, interior and exterior painting, roofing, flooring and grounds clean-up.

“The work that the Carolina Children’s Center does is very important to me, so I’m grateful to all the volunteers with The NASCAR Foundation and the Kyle Busch Foundation for their efforts on the ServiceNation Day of Action,” said Busch. “I had the chance to visit with the kids at the Children’s Center, so I know how much they appreciate the volunteers spending their time to help make it feel even more like home.”

The Carolina Children's Center in Concord, N.C., is one of five children's homes supported by the Kyle Busch Foundation in race markets around the country. The Center is a residential program for dependent, neglected, abused, and troubled children and youth and provides services for up to 57 children from ages 6-21.

“We are very excited about The NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network and the Kyle Busch Foundation joining forces to provide assistance to the Children’s Center to help prepare the campus for our 64th Harvest Festival celebration,” said Mike Walker, executive director of Carolina Children’s Center. “It is such a blessing for our community to choose us as the ServiceNation Day of Action organization this year. Let me encourage you to join us for a day of volunteerism, fellowship, and hard work.”
